8:44 am: The Whiteface Club and Resort golf course in Lake Placid is among the courses reopening to the public today. Several opened last weekend after Cuomo released golf courses from New York Pause regulations. Whiteface is instituting new COVID-19 rules, including no motorized carts, longer spaces between tee times, and enforcement of six feet social distancing between all players.
8:41 am: It’s a gorgeous spring day for the entire region, with sun and the warmest temperatures so far. Health officials are reminding everyone to still obey social distancing regulations while recreating, including not grouping at parking lots, not lingering at views and other popular destinations on trails, and wearing masks when around other people.
8:30 am: Good morning, and happy weekend. We’ll start today’s live blog with the big story yesterday — Gov. Andrew Cuomo is ordering all schools in New York to remain closed for the rest of the academic year. Decisions about summer school and summer camps are still to come.
