In Malaysia, cheap counterfeit drugs – passed off as brands like Panadol and Viagra, fertility and weight loss pills, to anti-cancer drugs, cholesterol medication and blood pressure drugs – can be bought from provisions shops and medicinal halls. But these may contain little or no active ingredients or substances like steroids and painkillers that could cause organ dysfunction.
